Father Tom had written a passage in his ordination acknowledgements that remains to carry deep sentiments; Lastly, I thank the Good Lord of Heaven for giving me the gift of faith, the gift of the Holy Priesthood, and the gift of all of you I pledge to you my prayers, support, love, Masses, good works, sacrifices, and my heart always. The legacy she leaves behind will continue, to reflect the good life and, works she demonstrated through her generosity and kindred spirit; loving daughter, Carla Denise Young Simmons of Goodlettsville, TN; two special grandsons, De Angelo (Lakresha) Scharkley of Springfield, TN and Shaquille (JaNeisha) Scharkley of Goodlettsville, TN; seven great-grandchildren, SaMeyah and SaMiyah Scharkley, D`Monny Scharkley, Jadyn Hayes, Julian White, Kreshay and Jamarious Patterson; devoted nieces, Christine Dowlen (Robert) Wix, Darlene Smith; nephew, Reverend Curtis (Reverend Sheila) Bowling; sisters-in-law, Dreucilla Miles Stewart and Josie Miles; special cousins, Peggy Woodson, Helen Marie Hicks and Cindy Ellis and family; devoted great-niece, Sheena (Reverend Leon) Chapman; special great-great-niece, Shanteea (Carlos) Stewart Sr.; special friends, Dorothy Owens, Mary Gladys Barbee and Doris Stone. A.J. Graveside services were conducted at 1:30pm Monday in the Bellwood Cemtery in Adams, TN. He served as Deacon Emeritus at Harmony Baptist Church where he was a member. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother, J.C. Cavender; and sister, Eleanor Read.
